Description
For sale is my 1991 Toyota Pickup Truck.Details:- 135k miles- 22RE engine- RWD- 5-speed manual transmission- manual steering- ACI bought this about 4 years ago, really mainly to work on it with my older son. At the time it was already a nice car and already had been maintained well, including:- clutch/transmission serviced- AC serviced- new distributor rotor- new electric cabling- some hoses replaced- removable steering wheelI made many more changes and improvements, including- Doug Thorley headers (CARB-compliant!)(smog done about a year ago with these parts)- changed steering box to rack-and-pinion set up (YES!!!)(final fine adjustments and alignment done by local shop)- including switching to a tilt steering column/wheel- new fuel rail and 4 point fuel injectors- pretty much all parts of the fuel system are new- cold air intake (CARB-compliant!)- complete Magnaflow exhaust system (currently using the original cat converter because of supply problems at the time, but I include a matching CARB-compliant cat converter as new part, not yet installed)- replaced almost all steering linkage parts (and then anyways for the rack-and-pinion)- lowered car by about 1 1/2 inch (using dedicated parts and spring leaves, no blocks or flipped yet - you could lower further)(parts included)- professional coating of transport bed- replaced/upgraded alternator- replaced/upgraded radiator- removed fan and replaced with electric fan with temp control (original fan included as part)- replaced all lights with halogen- re-upholstered interiorI don't know what you want to do with the car, but if I should keep it, I'd...- possibly rework the electrical ignition (currently original and works well, but maybe could do better still)(complete MSD set included!)- clean-up the electrical cabling and make the engine compartment neater (right now everything works, but it looks a little messy)- including installing a kill switch (the electric fan draws some current, and the battery will eventually drain if left standing for too long) (right now I use a screw solution on the battery terminal to disconnect)- get lower-profile rims and tires (with the rack-and-pinion, the car can do better still than with the original balloon-y tires)- install a stereo (currently none)(includes replacement radio antenna, but I have removed it so using the car cover is easier)- if really taking it to the track, install single racing seats (with the easier steering, even the classic front bench works well even when cornering harder)Just some of the parts included- original air intake parts- new and uninstalled CARB-compliant MagnaFlow catalytic converter (these were impossible to get for a long time, and now go for about $1,000)- complete matching, new and unused MSD ignition set up (also CARB conpliant)(about $500 new)- two different rear suspension improvement options (I am not sure if these can be installed on the lowered truck)- used trailer hitch (from a 4runner - not sure if this can be installed on the lowered truck)- 2 (remanufactured) steering boxes (they are probably working just fine for what they are, but I thought that was the issue with the indirect steering... after the 2nd try, I gave up and went with the rack-and pinion - which is SO MUCH better!!!)- I had accented the car with orange film on the hood, which looks good, but the film got dirtied when the car was at a garage, so either replace that, or maybe even repaint itThe car drives like a dream - the best, easy-to-shift manual transmission, plus engine is VERY responsive, plus steering is MUCH better than it could ever be with the best steering box... the reason why I list it now is because I think several of the next changes would not increase the value for a sale, maybe even make it harder, as they are more personal than the technical work I have done (eg rims/tires are a matter of personal taste). And while I am in positively no hurry to sell, I am thinking about buying a RV camper, and then this car would be too much to hold on to.- offers okay - low-balls not okay- phone number to text is mandatory- this is an ad to sell the car - not to try out how rack-and pinion steering or manual transmissions work, sorry- if you are new to manual transmissions - I’d be willing to drive the car to wherever you want it within reason after you have bought it, so you can learn there (I remember teaching my older son stick shift on this car!)- payment in cash (there is BoA, Chase, citibank all near-by - or bring a cashier’s check and wait for acceptance at bank)Please let me know any questions you may have. Thanks.
